Around 2023 Paul Henry Smith (vocals, guitar) tried to take some of his solo material on the local music scene, he asked Greg McSorley (bass, vocals) and Kevin Byrne (drums, vocals) to help. It didn’t work. So, they jammed and during that session four songs came to live.
Social Dancing was born.
With our community, our country and even democracy itself under threat the lyrics penned express frustration and anger at the deep inequality in society. To think that there are a few billionaire men holding vast amounts of power, holding wealth, starting wars, denying human rights, all for personal gain as vast numbers of people struggle across communities throughout Scotland and beyond.
Music is their catharsis. They embraced the 90s music scene, held on to the raw guitar power of that decade. Their songs are short, laden with a punk ethos, tinged with a touch of sadness expressed through the characters that live in their stories.
